If you read only mainstream African novelists like Adichie, Selasi, and company, chances are that you’re entirely unaware of a thriving African indie romance scene.

At the center of this scene is Kiru Taye, a London-based Nigerian novelist specialized in romance fiction of all kinds—historical, paranormal, exotic.

I approached Taye sometime last year about writing a Things Fall Apart fan fiction erotica. Boy, did she blow my mind away! She came up with “Thighs Fell Apart.” {Read HERE}

Ever since then, I’ve followed her writing. For those who, like me, remember growing up on Mills and Boon, Harlequin Romance, Barbara Cartland and so on, Kiru Taye’s literary project is a gift.  She’s providing fans of African writing with a unique literary product not found in the mainstream literary market.

She is also part of a collective called Romance Writers of West Africa (RWOWA). It’s amazing what these authors are doing. They are prolific. They write these totally wild and exciting stories about love and romance. You can get a quick, fun, heart-racing weekend read for anything between 99 cents and 3 dollars.

Let’s support our indie writers!

Kiru Taye7When a warrior’s restraint is tested, will he do his duty to the kingdom or succumb to the lure of a maiden?

Oma should fear the fierce warrior whose captive she’s become after she is seized while spying. The penalty is the lash of his whip. The ache in her body is not from the sting of his flogger but from the scorching heat of his touch. Still, she has to resist him if she wishes to safeguard the secrets she hides.

Jide is the prince’s closest guard. His duty is to keep the royal family safe, so he should deliver instant justice to the spy in his chambers. Yet the intense fire in the eyes of his beautiful prisoner Oma stirs him beyond that of any other maiden in his past. When his self-control is tried which will he choose—hand her over for punishment or defy the prince and protect her?

Kiru Taye3Sassy, successful Faith Brown has earned her place in the boardroom through hard work and sheer ambition. Making family is not on her agenda when there are businesses to develop and competitors to outdo. So when a casual affair with smooth and irresistible tycoon Mark Essien leads to an unplanned pregnancy, she’s determined not to make the mistakes her mother made by living with a man just for the sake of her child.

For Mark, personal matters have no place in the boardroom. Spotting the perfect opportunity, he ruthlessly launches a takeover bid for Faith’s Investment Brokerage firm. Finding out he’ll soon be a father, he knows he can’t let the indomitable and sexy Faith go through with her plans of single parenthood. All gloves are off. He’ll seduce her by any tactic necessary if it means his child doesn’t suffer the same stigma he did as a child.

With the media dogging their affairs in the boardroom and the bedroom, they find that making family is harder than making scandal.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000446_00066]Ugo’ji is an outcast, an untouchable. She lives on the fringe of society as the lowest of the low, a living sacrifice to the gods. The only person she interacts with is her aged grandmother Nne who nurtures her powerful gift of healing. Until the day she meets Ebube a strange warrior to their lands. He  ignites a yearning within her she’s unable to ignore.

Ebube is drawn to the young maiden with the emerald green eyes who possesses the body of a goddess and the healing touch of an angel. But he is forbidden from mating with a human and the consequence is the wrath of the gods.

Moreover he is on a mission. If he fails, the gates of hell will be opened and the earth plunged into darkness. He cannot stay and she cannot go with him.
