Zimbabwean novelist and filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga will be in conversation with South African Booker Prize finalist Achmat Dangor at a Goethe-Institut “Literary Crossroads” event on 6 December, The Reading List reports. The conversation, which will be moderated by Danyela Demir, is free.

“Literary Crossroads,” which is curated by Indra Wussow and Sine Buthelezi, is a series where writers meet colleagues from all over the continent and from the diaspora to discuss trends, topics and themes.

Tsitsi Dangarembga is the author of the now-classic novel Nervous Conditions (1988), its sequel The Book of Not (2006), and This Mournable Body, forthcoming from Graywolf Press. She is the founder and director of the Institute of Creative Arts for Progress in Africa Trust, an institution focusing on the role of all arts disciplines in development. She is currently working on her fourth novel, a dystopian young adult speculative fiction presently titled Sai-Sai, Watermaker.

Achmat Dangor‘s Bitter Fruit was shortlisted for the 2004 Booker Prize and his Kafka’s Curse received the Bosman Prize. A veteran of anti-Apartheid activism in the 1970s, he received the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award from the South African Literary Awards (SALA).
