From the Erotic Africa: The Sex Anthology Team: Call for Submissions

One of the things often passed as “African” is an easily shocked but pretentious sensibility when it comes to sex. Nigeria, for example, is currently the world’s seventh most populous country. How we got there? Sex and lots of it! Still, there is not enough of the erotic in our literature. We are having sex in the open, on the sly. We are doing it straight and bending. It is consensual, sometimes not. Whichever way it occurs, to not write our versions of the sexual and erotic is to skip past an important part of our existence.

This is an invitation to be part of Erotic Africa: The Sex Anthology. If you accept this invitation, we would like to encourage your freedom of sexual expression and, as such, to feel free to write and capture your realities and fantasies. The brain, they say, is the largest sexual organ. Therefore, go on, stimulate us!

GUIDELINES

1. Maximum of 2000 words.

2. Any art format that can be expressed on the page (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, photography, digital art, etc) is welcome. Note: Erotica is oftentimes dismissed as merely pornographic, and it is to shake this stance that we ask that you create something different.

3. While two is the maximum limit for written submissions from a contributor, six is the limit for photography or digital art. We, however, reserve the right to pick what makes the cut.

4. All submissions should be titled and all photographs captioned.

5. Submissions should be Word attachments or pasted into the body of the email. No PDFs.

6. Pseudonyms, while not necessary, are allowed.

7. Send your work to [email protected]. Each submission would be acknowledged soonest.

8. Deadline: 31 March, 2018.

Erotic Africa: The Sex Anthology will be published by Brittle Paper and will appear online for free downloads in June, 2018. Let us come and pull the sheets off the S-Word and be sexy, honest and open about how we express ourselves through our bodies.
