Ainehi Edoro, founder of Brittle Paper, is set to leave her Assistant Professor position at Marquette University for a dual appointment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For the past two years at Marquette, Ainehi has taught courses in Global Anglophone Literatures. At Wisconsin-Madison, she will be taking up a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Global Black Literatures, in a joint appointment with the school’s English Department and their African Cultural Studies Department.
Ainehi made the announcement on Facebook last week:
Hey all, I am taking up a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of global black literatures at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, starting this fall. I have a joint appointment with the English Department and the African Cultural Studies Department. As you can imagine, I’m looking forward to all the fun I’ll have cooking up all kinds of cool projects with my new colleagues. But I will miss my Marquette English – FAME family. It was an amazing two years of working with some of the brightest and kindest thinkers in the field.
When Ainehi Edoro started Brittle Paper in 2010, she was a PhD student at Duke University. In addition to global Anglophone literatures, her specialisation includes 21st century fiction and literature in the digital/social media. At the moment, she is developing a book project titled Paradigms of African Fiction.
Ainehi is a member of a growing group of prominent African literary personalities who are also professors, including Bernardine Evaristo, Kwame Dawes, Alain Mabanckou, Chris Abani, Chika Unigwe, Dinaw Mengestu, Tsitsi Ella Jaji, Namwali Serpell, and Mukoma wa Ngugi.
