Did you know that award-winning novelist Oyinkan Braithwaite is also a digital illustration artist?

In 2017, Braithwaite created the Instagram account @oyinsphere to archive her journey with pencil and digital illustration.

Though Braithwaite describes @oyinsphere on her main Instagram handle (@oyinkanbraithwaite) as her “Animator-in-training” page, the illustrations have had three years to develop into vibrant images celebrating Black beauty. Braithwaite often uses the hashtags #allthatmelanin, #drippingmelanin, #blackhair, and #naturalhair to describe her inspiration for the drawings.

Braithwaite’s illustration-focused Instagram is presented under her married name, Oyinkan Odunlami. Her husband, Temidayo Odunlami, is a professional character animator and visual storyteller. His work can be found under the Instagram handle @dayo.odunlami.
