Simon & Schuster has an open call for poetry until August 31. Submit your poetry manuscript for a chance to get published! The submission process is free and specifically geared toward poets without a literary agent.
The open call is taking place through Scribner Poetry, Simon & Schuster’s poetry imprint. Since 1846, Scribner has published exceptional writers who have helped define the American publishing scene. Launched earlier this year, Scribner’s poetry line continues to celebrate creative excellence and features breathtaking and timely poetry. Their inaugural list includes collections from Airea D. Matthews, Sam Sax, and Diana Khoi Nguyen.
Scribner Poetry’s open call is an attempt to include new voices and lower some of the hurdles that unagented poets experience when seeking a publisher. The open submission period lasts through August 31 or until they receive a maximum of 300 manuscripts. Each submission will be reviewed by a Scribner poetry editor.
Submission Guidelines:
- Applicants must be U.S. residents who are at least 18 years old.
- Submissions should come from poets who are unagented.
- Submission must be a full-length, previously unpublished collection of poems written primarily in the English language.

Note: poets from all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome, whether they’re submitting a debut collection or they’ve published several collections over their lifetime.
- Manuscript must be a Microsoft Word document or PDF only.
