British Nigerian writer Bolu Babalola is engaged!
The romance novelist shared the announcement in a sneaky Instagram post, hidden in the last two photos. The photo series starts with glamorous shots of her life and funny memes before surprise pictures of Babalola wearing a gorgeous pear-shaped diamond ring. The announcement was accompanied by the sweet caption “Home forever, home always. 
”
Lots of fans and colleagues offered their congratulations on the Instagram, including fellow romance novelist Shirlene Obuobi who wrote “OMG NOT YOU DROPPING THE IN THE LAST PIC!!! Congratulations !!!!!!”
Babalola, known for fresh, witty, and inclusive approach to the genre of romance novels, is the author of the anthology Love in Color. Her romcom novel Honey & Spice received rave reviews from the industry and readers alike, and was named a Best Book of the Year by Time, Esquire, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Buzzfeed and more. The sequel, titled Sweet Heat, is set to come out July 2025.
