Lola Shoneyin was recently featured on CNN’s “African Voices: Changemakers,” in a video in which she discussed the essence of the Ake Arts and Book Festival, which she founded in 2013.
Shoneyin’s running of the Ake Festival and its sister showpiece, the Kaduna Book and Arts Festival, coupled with her founding of the publishing press Ouida Books, were cited in her announcement as Brittle Paper‘s African Literary Person of the Year 2017.
