If you have a story in your hard drive or notebook just screaming to be read, then Electric Literature wants it! The digital publishing website is soliciting submissions for their Recommended Reading Lit Mag, “which publishes short story and novel excerpts with personal recommendations.”

Electric Literature offers authors $300 for publishing rights, and the submission guidelines are as follows:

  • Recommended Reading publishes fiction between 1,500 and 10,000 words.
  • Submissions must be in English.
  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted but please notify us immediately if a piece is accepted elsewhere.
  • Response time is three to six months.
  • During general submissions periods, writers may submit one piece per opening period. (This does not apply to year-round submitting members. For more information on members submissions, please visit the members hub.)
