Ghanaian author Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah recently celebrated her 45th birthday with her best friends in Senegal and posted a ton of wholesome photos and reels on Instagram. We love when writers take the opportunity to ring in the year with their besties!
Sekyiamah included a sweet video of her friends singing the “Happy birthday” song on her special day along with photos of a celebratory lunch and relaxing on the beach afterwards.
Showing love and gratitude, she posted the caption: “No filter, just blessed with sunshine, good friends and feminist community everywhere I go. My 45th birthday has been full of love, Tcheb, rose and sooooo many gifts. Thank you fam.”
In fact, Sekyiamah was having so much fun celebrating her birthday that she accidentally thought she turned 46, instead of 45. See the following Instagram caption:
Gratitude to my community who celebrate and affirm me everyday . . . Oh and yesterday my mum told me that I’m 45 not 46 🤣. Somehow I’d added a whole year to my birthday. Now, let me go edit a previous post 🫣
