Nigerian Writer Iquo DianaAbasi is Feeling Blessed as She Turns 43

Nigerian author Iquo DianaAbasi recently turned 43 years old and shared some fun snaps of the birthday bash on Instagram. We love when writers take the opportunity to do a spontaneous birthday photoshoot!

Along with some stunning photos of herself in a white birthday gown, DianaAbasi also included pictures of two birthday cakes, and her group of friends who joined in the celebration. The icing on the cake was a super cute reel of DianaAbasi swinging in her white dress with the caption, “Swinging into 43 like…”

Sharing the spirit of love and gratitude, she posted the following Insta caption:

Dear Fam,

I have not felt so loved and appreciated in a long long time!
Thank you for your messages, the prayers, calls, texts, the birthday songs in different flavours and languages… I have only gratitude.

I’m still so overwhelmed to have such blessed family who got together to plan a surprise party for me, even though we’ve been friends for less than 6 months.

I hope to one day be worthy of all the love and adoration I got on my birthday.

Iquo DianaAbasi is a Nigerian creative writer, performer and social activist. Her short story collection Èfó Rírò and Other Stories was released in 2020. Her first collection of poems Symphony of Becoming was shortlisted for the NLNG Nigeria Prize for Literature, the ANA Poetry Prize, and the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature. She is an alumnus of Fidelity Bank’s International Creative Writing Workshop, and was writer-in-residence at the Ebedi International Writers Residency.
