Registration is officially open for the 2023 Lagos International Poetry Festival (LIPFest). The program for this year includes workshops by the brilliant writers Jericho Brown and Bassey Ikpi, so we highly recommend Brittle Paper readers to attend if you’re in the area.
The festival will take place from October 26–29 at the Alliance Française / Mike Adenuga Center in Lagos, Nigeria. Since its inception in 2015, LIPFest has been committed to promoting poetry as a tool for social change and personal expression. The festival brings together poets, writers, artists, and literary enthusiasts from around the world, to annually celebrate poetry, literature, and culture.
This year’s festival promises a captivating blend of performances, poetry readings, workshops, panel discussions, and a high-stakes poetry slam where the winner will receive a whopping 1 million Naira. The theme of this year’s festival is Sanctuary, with a four-day series of events designed to hold space for stillness and renewal.
LIPFest 2023 will feature renowned headliners such as Jericho Brown with his writing masterclass and Bassey Ikpi with a creative nonfiction workshop, alongside poets, writers, and artists from across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Gambia, Germany, the UK, and Slovenia. We are excited to celebrate creativity and collaboration of ideas in a fun-filled atmosphere of camaraderie and beauty!
