Eloghosa Osunde Launches Merch for Vagabonds’ 2-Year Anniversary

Nigerian author Eloghosa Osunde has decided to launch personalized merch for the two-year anniversary of their debut novel Vagabonds!.

Vagabonds!, published in 2022, is set in Lagos and tells the story of a band of outcasts with supernatural powers. It was New York Times’ Critics Choice, a finalist for the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize, and has been longlisted for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize, among other accolades.

Osunde shared over Instagram that a few months ago, they commissioned 20 original art pieces by the artist Mercy Thokozane Minah for Vagabonds! merch of all kinds. The merch includes a stunning range of tote bags, prints, tshirts, hoodies, postcards, and more:

This process unfurled over two incredible months, its execution amplifying the fabric of the storyworld one piece at a time. We had so much fun with it, and now as a result of this collab with @iamafreedom you can carry scenes with you in forms beyond the book. Think: totes, prints (metal, canvas, paper), tshirts, hoodies, phone cases, postcards, stickers, scarves, jigsaw puzzles, etc etc. If you can see it behind your eyes, it’s likely possible. Just ask.

Osunde remarked that they have wanted to do this for quite some time and is glad it’s finally here. To celebrate the two-year anniversary of Vagabonds!, Osunde also did a small Instagram giveaway for three readers in Nigeria to receive free totes.

They are an alumna of the Lambda Literary Workshop (2019), New York Film Academy (2017) and the Caine Prize Workshop (2018). They are a 2020 MacDowell Colony Fellow and the 2021 prose judge of Fugue Journal’s annual writing contest.
