Open Arts invites women writers from Northern Nigeria to submit their fiction or nonfiction manuscripts in English or Hausa for a publishing deal. If you are interested and eligible, submit your manuscript by the deadline of May 31.

Open Arts is a cultural and arts collective committed to promoting the arts and creative endeavors based in northern Nigeria. Open Arts prioritizes works of art and stories from people whose voices have been excluded from the universal conversation, using arts and culture as narratives to influence and shape the reality of life in northern Nigeria.

This call for submissions is the first of its kind manuscript publishing deal for women writers from Northern-Nigeria. Submissions must be unpublished manuscripts in either English or Hausa, fiction or nonfiction. The aim of this submission call is to strengthen women’s creative writing and publishing through capacity-building workshops and publications.

Selected women writers from Northern Nigeria will be paid for their manuscripts, benefit from intensive workshops, mentorship programs, networking opportunities, literary events, and will have their books published in either English or Hausa to a global audience.

Submit a completed manuscript of either fiction or nonfiction in English or Hausa along with a brief biography to [email protected] with the subject line: “2024 – Manuscript”.
