South African publishing house Inkani Books has published a new collection of Kwame Nkrumah’s speeches and essays!

The collection, titled THE REVOLUTIONARY THOUGHTS OF KWAME NKRUMAH, was edited by Zambian-Ghanaian writer Efiama Chela and Indian historian Vijay Prashad. It collects a curated selection of Nkrumah’s radio broadcasts, essays, and speeches. The collection is part of Inkani’s growing “Classics of National Liberation” series. The series also includes the recent Zulu translation of Frantz Fanon’s WRETCHED OF THE EARTH, translated by Makhosazana Xaba.

Kwame Nkrumah (1909-1972) was a Ghanaian revolutionary known for his commitment to Pan-Africanism and self-determination. After Ghana won its independence from Britain, Nkrumah was the first Prime Minister, then President of Ghana from 1957-1966. His commitment to African liberation lives on in post-colonial African thought, politics, and writing.

According to Inkani,

THE REVOLUTIONARY THOUGHTS OF KWAME NKRUMAH offers a vivid portrayal of Nkrumah’s visionary leadership in shaping the post-colonial trajectory of Ghana and the broader African continent. Nkrumah’s fervent dedication to Pan-Africanism and self-determination is illuminated through his writing at pivotal moments such as the formation of Ghana in 1957 and the establishment of the Organisation of African States in 1963.

THE REVOLUTIONARY THOUGHTS OF KWAME NKRUMAH is an important milestone in Nkrumah’s legacy, making his writing and speeches widely available in a new collection.
