Narrative Landscapes Press is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Contraband Bodies by Nigerian poet Olajide Salawu for publication! Established in 2016, Narrative Landscapes Press has become a prominent independent publishing house in Nigeria, home to renowned authors such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Oyinkan Braithwaite, Nikki May, Yejide Kilanko, and Caleb Azumah Nelson.

Contraband Bodies is an exploration of migratory experiences and the impact of politics on identity and belonging. This personal record serves as an elegy to displacement and the journey of finding home. Salawu’s work highlights the multifaceted experiences of African migrants across Africa, Europe, and North America, offering a fresh perspective on diasporic conditions.

Olajide Salawu is a Nigerian poet and the author of Preface for Leaving Homeland, published under the African Poetry Book Fund. Salawu’s poetry and essays have appeared in various prestigious journals, including LitHub, The Mantle, Lolwe, The Republic, CBC, Literary Review of Canada, and Prairie Schooner. He has received multiple fellowships and awards, including the Vancouver Manuscript Intensive Fellowship. Currently, he serves as the managing editor of OlongoAfrica Magazine and contributes newsletters for FlamingHydra.

From its inception, Narrative Landscapes Press envisioned a publishing firm that could streamline the publishing process while offering services to other publishing houses and self-publishing authors within the Nigerian landscape.  In 2018, Narrative Landscapes Press took a significant step into traditional publishing by opening its submissions desk. The press achieved notable success with the acquisition of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s works, paving the way for ventures into other genres.
