In global literary news, by the end of the year seven African poets will be published through a collaborative effort between Inmensa Editorial, Sphera Magazine and Daghobé Human Development Institute. The seven works, titled below, will be published through the Inmensa Editorial company’s new 30 book collection: Infame Ruído. (Infamous Noise)
- Os Sonhos Nunca São Velhos (Dreams Never Are Old), by João Melo
- 30 Odes, by José Luís Mendonça
- Devastação de Sombras (Devastation of Shadows), by José Luís Hoppfer-Almada
- Poemas (Poems), by Odete Semedo
- Máquina do Olhar (The looking machine), by Álvaro Turuma
- Subsolo (Subsoil), by Pedro Pereira Lopes
- O Útero da Casa (The womb of the house) by Conceição Lima
This collection came to be thanks to the efforts of Sphera Magazine and Daghobé Human Development Institute with the goals of collaborating to hearing literature from the margins of the world and promote reading of literary production in Portuguese in public schools not only in Brazil, but across the globe.
After the publication of these seven books, the first 25 out of the total 30 book collection will be published. Currently, a quarter of the published works will be donated to public schools in the authors country of origin. The remaining will be sold in Brazil.
We look forward to the rest of the collection, and to read the poets’ works once they are available!
