On December 21, 2024, Noisy Streetss launched their brand committed to amplifying African storytelling.
Noisy Streetss is a platform dedicated to empowering African youth by providing a space for them to express their unique voices and engage in meaningful discussions on a range of important issues.
After months of planning, the Noisy Streetss team hosted an unforgettable evening at The Freeme Space in Lekki, Lagos. Guests mingled in a dimly lit studio, holding copies of our newly published anthology, enjoying endless drinks, great food, and performances by talented musicians.
The event, themed after their December issue, Love in Detty December, immersed attendees in a world of romantic African storytelling. The venue’s black walls were illuminated by golden fairy lights strung across the ceiling, while soft grey and black seating created an intimate, warm atmosphere for the guests.
Deji Osikoya opened the evening with introductions—welcoming the guests to Noisy Streetss, sharing its mission, and presenting the debut print anthology. He set the stage for spoken word performances by anthology contributors. Mariam Oyetunji and Zoe Kanu brought their stories, Detty Pastime and A Man and a Woman, to life with captivating spoken word performances supported by a custom audio track. Their sets were followed by musical performances from guest artists Solarhymes and Amaeyaa.
Next, Adesewa Adesina hosted a live segment of The Loveboat with Aisha Alabi, Loti, and Inioluwa, introducing our podcast, which explores modern African dating. To conclude the main event, founder Modupe Daramola offered a vote of thanks before introducing guest artists Taves and BOJ. The night ended with an after-party hosted by Tolu Daniels and DJs Dewik, Nifster, and DJ Oreo.
The Noisy Streetss team was intentional about every element of the launch event. Every detail, from the event’s theme to the invited artists to the food vendors, was chosen to reflect the creativity and power of young Nigerians. Through this event, Noisy Streetss laid a bold foundation for A Man and a Woman & Other Stories, introducing the world to a platform that celebrates the limitless potential of young Africans.
