There will also be stunning photography of dishes, landscapes, and everyday life. Chop Chop is a love letter to Nigerian cuisine!
Ozoz Sokoh found her love for food and cooking Nigerian dishes after she moved from Nigeria to the UK to study Geology. She found that cooking Nigerian dishes helped with her homesickness when she was in the UK.
Her first food blog, Kitchen Butterfly, started her exploration of the history of food and its cultural significance. In 2020, she launched Feast Afrique, an online West African food and drink documentation and celebration platform.
In the same year, Sokoh launched the “Eat the Book” series here at Brittle Paper where she created recipes for different books by African writers. She created a lemongrass and coconut soup with potatoes, carrots, and greens inspired by Igifu by Scholastique Mukasonga, see that recipe here. From Out of Darkness, Shining Light by Petina Gappah, she creted spiced rice pudding in this recipe, and more!
On top of that, she teaches Food and Tourism Studies at Centennial College. See her journey that led her to writing Chop Chop on her Instagram, she also posts other recipes and food inspiration on her account.
Chop Chop is being published by Artisan Books, a division of Workman Publishing Company. They publish books “to inspire and instruct, produced with great intention and quality.” Ozoz Sokoh’s Chop Chop is a perfect addition to bring new unique recipes and more to their wide group of readers.
Congratulations to Ozoz on this incredible achievement! We’re excited to see what Chop Chop has to offer.
