The Dublin Literary Award has released the longlist for 2025. The list includes 71 books from 34 countries around the world, including from African countries and authors in the African diaspora.
The longlist includes Senegalese-French author David Diop’s Beyond the Door of No Return, Ethopian-American author Maya Binyam’s Hangman, Nigerian author Umar Abubakar Sidi’s The Incredible Dreams Of Garba Dakaskus, South African author Shubnum Khan’s The Lost Love of Akbar Manzil, Senegalese author Mohamed Mbougar Sarr’s The Most Secret Memory of Men, and Nigerian author Chigozie Obioma’s The Road to the Country.
The Dublin Literary Award, started in 1996, honors excellence in world literature. Presented annually, the Award is one of the most significant literature prizes in the world, worth €100,000 for a single work of fiction in original English or translated into English.
This prize is special in that the longlist is compiled from nominations by invited public libraries from around the world. This longlist will be narrowed into a shortlist by a panel of judges. The winner will be announced in a ceremony during the International Literature Festival Dublin.
