What is a motif? What is a story’s message? These questions have to do with theme, the unifying idea in a story. Theme is a powerful storytelling tool that many beginner writers either misuse or fail to use because it is so abstract. Fiction writer and editor Molara Wood has put together a set of techniques to help you build your story around powerful ideas.

Instructor Bio: Molara Wood is a journalist, editor, and the author of Indigo, a collection of short stories. She won the inaugural John La Rose Memorial Short Story Competition and received a Commonwealth Broadcasting Association award for her fiction.
