Etisala-prize-2015-9-e1458744682228

As Etisalat opens entries for this year’s prize for Literature [read here], we are throwing it back to the awesomeness of last year’s award gala.

On Saturday, 19th March 2016, Fiston Mujila became the third winner of the Etisalat Prize for African Literature and the first francophone author to win the coveted prize.

Here is the beautiful video that captures all the stirring moments during the gala. You get to witness the idea of African literature as a diverse and beautiful community of readers, literary icons, pop culture celebrities, and critics.

Etisalat prize might be relatively young, but the organizers are taking the lead on how to celebrate Africa fiction in grand style.

Enjoy!

I hold a doctorate in English from Duke University and recently joined the Marquette University English faculty as an Assistant Professor. I love teaching African fiction and contemporary British novels. Brittle Paper is the virtual space/station where I play and experiment with ideas on how to reinvent African fiction and literary culture.
