CFWriterz, a Nigeria-based literary magazine and e-book publisher, is calling for submissions for its biannual N100,000 literary award. The award—which recognizes the best submission in any genre: fiction, poetry or nonfiction—is sponsored by SOBCA Academy, a leading provider of training in anger management, emotional intelligence and mental health. The theme for this edition, the second of 2018, is “Wings to Fly,” and the deadline for submissions is 20 November 2018.
Writers published by CFWriterz have won or been shortlisted for the Awele Creative Trust Prize for Literature, the Quramo Writer’s Award, and the Biopage International Essay Contest.
Here are the award’s guidelines:
GENERAL GUIDELINES
We accept work from African writers of any background, and/or residence.
We accept work in only the English Language.
Our maximum word counts are 3,000 words for pieces of fiction and non-fiction, and 30 lines for poetry.
Please send us up to one poem at a time but adhere to the prescribed length. Multiple entries are not allowed.
We prefer to receive original work, i.e. work that has not been published before. If your work has been published before, please indicate how, where and when.
We’re happy to publish excerpts from books, scripts, etc. Please indicate whether your submission is an excerpt from your book.
Similarly, translations are welcome, as long as the source text and author are credited.
CFWriterz’ editors will select and publish a longlist in the week after 20 November.
