The Toyin Falola Prize is accepting submissions for its 2021 prize.

Now in its second year, the prize is annually administered by literary magazine Lunaris Review and is named after, and presented in honor of, Toyin Falola, a Nigerian historian and distinguished professor of African Studies.

The 2021 prize is on the theme of “Africanfuturism.” Writers are encouraged to fully explore the them as well as bring their own interpretations to it. There is no entry fee.

Writers must be aged between 15 and 35 at the time of submission. The submission period runs from from January 15 to May 15. The winner will receive a cash award of $2,500.

Submission Guidelines.

  • Submissions should be between 1,500 to 4,500 words.
  • Entrants should submit only one story.
  • Submission must be the writer’s own work. Only unpublished work will be considered.
