The third edition of African Writers Trust’ Manuscript Assessment Program (MAP) is live. Under the program, writers are invited to submit unpublished manuscripts (novels, short story collections, poetry and biography) from African writers for evaluation and appraisal from experienced editors and readers.

The assessors will provide editorial feedback on the manuscript of up to 2000 words “on key areas, such as plot, structure, character development, and dialogue, as well as on the quality of the writing. They will also make suggestions for the future development of the manuscript.”

The 2021 assessors are Indra Wussow, Emma Shercliff, Jessica A. Kaahwa, Christopher Conte, Susan N. Kiguli, Madhu Krishnan, Goretti Kyomuhendo. (Read their bios here.)

Participating writers are simply required to submit an unpublished manuscript written in English language, with an accompanying synopsis of up to 1000 words. Each submission carries a fee of $300.

Submission Deadline: July 31.
