On October 20, Brittle Paper and Booker longlisted author Karen Jennings are co-hosting an information session on the recently launched Island Prize. If you are an African writer working on your first novel, make sure to attend.

Named after and in honor of Jennings’ Booker longlisted novel An Island, the prize is aimed exclusively at African writers in the early stages of their career. The prize comes with cash prizes, an opportunity to be published by Holland House Books in the UK and Karavan Press in South Africa, in addition to finding an agent.

African writers who want to become novelists should attend the meeting to find out more about what the prize offers and ask any questions they might have about how to enter their work.

The event is virtual and will take place on Zoom. Registration is required.
