Sudanese author Leila Aboulela is set to release one of the most anticipated African books of the year, titled River Spirit. She recently shared the first set of book tour dates.
As we shared last year in the news story about the forthcoming release of the book, River Spirit explores the imperialist history of Sudan during the Mahdist War in the 19th century. [Go here if you missed it.] It tells the story of a young woman’s attempt to make a life for herself and her brother after a tragic experience. Nobel Laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah described River Spirit as a “novel of extraordinary sympathy and insight; a wonderful achievement.”
Aboulela is kicking off the book touch with a set of dates in the UK. She shared the dates on Instagram ahead of the book’s publication in the UK and the US on March 7. Preorder here.
If you happen to be in or near a city she is visiting, stop by to say hi and share in celebrating the brilliant new book. Register here.
