Nnedi Okorafor stars as a voice actor in the award-winning Netflix series Ada Twist, Scientist, inspired by the 2016 children’s picture book by Andrea Beaty.
The series focuses on uplifting young girls to pursue STEM by highlighting the importance of asking questions about the world. Ada Twist is an inquisitive 8-year-old Black scientist who questions everything she encounters: a ticking clock, the hairs in her dad’s nose, and more. She executes elaborate scientific experiments everyday with the help of her best friends Rosie and Iggy, sometimes creating havoc but always thinking critically and carefully.
Nnedi Okorafor is an award-winning Nigerian-American writer who is best known for writing about Africanfuturism, Africanjujuism, and fantasy. Her newest book is Akata Woman (2022) in The Nsibidi Scripts series.
Okorafor plays the role of Alex Akerele, a famous writer, on Ada Twist, Scientist Season 4, Episode 19. See Okorafor’s Twitter announcement below:
I’ve made my debut as a voice actor playing famous writer “Alex Akerele” on Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning series Ada Twist, Scientist, 😆! I’m in Ep. 19, Season 4, released today, “Getting It Write”.
It’s produced by Barack and Michelle Obama. So surreal to be in the credits. pic.twitter.com/srPK02Hyo2
