Ghanaian American author and cardiologist Shirlene Obuobi recently shared a joyful moment with her Instagram followers, marking the close of a challenging chapter in her life. Obuobi shared videos and photos of herself wearing a sash that read “finally divorced” during a night out in Las Vegas.
In the instagram post, she described her divorce as “the best thing to happen” to her and expressed gratitude for friends who supported her and the memories made during the celebratory night out.
In a candid response to a follower’s comment, Obuobi opened up about the difficult journey leading up to this moment. She reflected on a “very sad, difficult chapter” involving personal loss, a toxic relationship, and the painful process of rebuilding her life on the East Coast.
there’s a very sad difficult chapter of my life in which I married a narcissist who threatened to kill me, lost my home, dog, & several of the ppl who I thought were my friends, burned my whole life down, moved to the east coast, & started over! I’m doing great now tho.
Despite these hardships, it is good to know that she is “doing great now” and has embraced this period of healing and new beginnings.
Obuobi is known for writing sizzling romance fiction. Her first novel, On Rotation, earned her an appearance on Good Morning America and numerous reviews on major platforms. Her second novel, Between Friends and Lovers, was published earlier this year and continues her exploration of complex relationships and romance. You can purchase it here.
We wish her all the best as she embarks on this new chapter.
