A new award will be accepting submissions across all forms, the Its Never Too Late Award through Bridport Prize brings the spotlight to creatives aged 60 and up to to discover new writers and unheard voices whilst inspiring creative confidence in a crowd often overlooked. The deadline is unique for each category, but most aren’t until spring of next year.

Championed by best selling author Kit de Waal (aged 64) and London Literary Agent, AM Heath, this award aims to recognize success over sixty and a ‘never give up’ resilience that is the mainstay of writers. Kit de Waal is a two time winner of the Bridport Prize, now returning as a judge for the 60+ contest while spearheading their under represented writers residency. Her next novelThe Best Of Everything is to be published in April 2025. Kit de Waal grew up in a large workingclass family in Birminghan with her Irish mother and Caribbean father, having left school at 16 to pursue her own dreams.

This £500 award is for the highest placed writer aged 60+ across poetry, short story, novel or flash fiction.
