The excitement around the upcoming film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone keeps growing!

The blockbuster fantasy, based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, is bringing together an electrifying ensemble cast, with Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr and Nollywood icon Richard Mofe-Damijo (The Black Book) joining the ranks.

The initial cast lineup was revealed earlier this year with South African actress Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King) leading the team in the role of protagonist, Zélie. Mbedu is joined by Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) as Amari, Damson Idris (Snowfall) as Inan, Tosin Cole (Supacell) as Tzain, and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Venom: The Last Dance) as King Saran.

The cast includes rising stars like Pamilerin Ayodeji, Shamz Garuba, and WNBA player Temi Fagbenle alongside Hollywood icons Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, and Regina King.

Children of Blood and Bone follows Zélie Adebola as she embarks on a perilous journey to outwit the ruthless monarchy with the help of a rogue princess in order to restore magic to her people. As danger mounts and her powers—and feelings for an enemy—grow, Zélie must fight to bring hope back to Orïsha. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film promises to be a celebration of African culture and magic.

With this dream cast and production team which includes Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, known for their work on the Twilight series, expectations for this film are sky-high! Set for a tentative IMAX release in 2027, Children of Blood and Bone is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of the decade. Stay tuned for more details!
