On Saturday
dressed in Sunday best
There’s a woman in white
and confetti,
of course

Witnesses
are reminded that this
is a day of
Beginnings

But Book and Word
bring endings
into view

Gown and suit, freshly pressed
Mourning dress

The garb of the dead
