Poetry lovers! This one’s for you.

Akashic Books is releasing a new chapbook box set, New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Box Set (Nane). This is a fourteen-piece, limited-edition box set that features the work of thirteen new African poets.

The box set, according to the publisher, is “a project started in 2014 to ensure the publication of up to a dozen chapbooks every year by African poets through Akashic Books. The series seeks to identify the best poetry written by African poets working today, and it is especially interested in featuring poets who have not yet published their first full-length book of poetry.”

The series is edited by Kwame Dawes and Chris Abani. Previous box sets include New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Box Set (Saba) (2020),New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Box Set (Sita) (2019),New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Box Set (Tano) (2018), New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Box Set (Nne) (2017), and New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Box Set (Tatu) (2016).

As with these previous box sets, the thirteen writers featured in New-Generation African Poets: A Chapbook Box Set (Nane) come from all parts of the continent. They are Selina Nwulu, Ayan M. Omar, Jeremy Teddy Karn, Ajibola Tolase, Hauwa Shaffii Nuhu, Sara Elkamel, Precious Arinze, Lameese Badr, Qutouf Yahia, Edil Hassan, Kolawole Adebayo, Cynthia Amoah, and Saradha Soobrayen.
