London-based film production company Chudor House Productions has acquired the film and television rights to two novels published by Lagos based publisher Narrative Landscape Press. Chudor House Productions is family-owned and was founded and currently run by the Nigerian siblings Nnenne, Odiri and Chukwudi Iwuji.

Impostor Alert by Nigerian novelist Uduak Akpabio Umoren is about a young woman who assumes the identity of a stranger she meets briefly on a bus trip after the latter dies in an accident.  The second titledTruth is a Flightless Bird is by Nairobi-based author Akbar Hussain. The novel explores class rivalry in Nairobi.

The film deal was facilitated by Narrative Landscape Press’s agency subsidiary, Narrative Landscape Literary Agency. No information was provided regarding when production will begin on the films.

Odiri Iwuji, on behalf of Chudor House, said: “When my business partner Enyi Omeruah found these novels, I knew I couldn’t pass either of them up. We’re both very excited to option these two brilliant African stories from Nigeria and Kenya.”
