Mukoma wa Ngugi’s new novel Unbury Our Dead With Song was the muse of Cassava Republic’s sip and paint event held in Abuja.

The well-attended event saw fans of the book painting the book’s cover art while sipping on a variety of delicious drinks. The novel tells the story of a Kenyan journalist who falls in love with Tizita, a classical Ethiopian music. His obsession with the music sends him on a journey that is as much an exploration of its Ethiopian origins as it is of self-discovery.

The event was held at Sip and Paint Studios in Abuja. Find them on Instagram here.

Attendees were invited to put their spin on the cover art, which was designed by Chinyere Okoroafor. Check out some of the pieces.
