Hey Brittle Paper fam! For our staff members living in the US, the summer is right around the corner. This means school is out, vacations are underway, and a bit more leisure time to pick up a few new reads. With that in mind, we made this list of what we will be reading in the coming months and thought we’d share with you.

A bulk of the list includes some recent releases we adore, like Abishola-Ayodeji’s Patience is a Subtle Thief. There is also Akwaeke Emezi’s romance debut You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty, which dropped a few days ago. An upcoming release we’re excited about is Chinelo Okparanta’s Harry Sylvester Bird. Okparanta’s satirical novel follows an interracial relationship between a white man who was raised in a racist, xenophobic household and a Nigerian woman.

There are also a few short story collections coming out soon. There is Saleh Addonia’s debut short story collection, The Feeling House, which centers his life experiences as a refugee. Another short story to keep on your radar is God’s Children Are Little Broken Things by Arinze Ifeakandu, also a debut collection. The collection has been praised as “an exquisite, complex examination of the vulnerabilities of queer love and desire amid family fears, dreams, and the power of expectations.”

Whatever title you feel most drawn to, we hope you find something in our list to enjoy and look forward to this summer! Tap on the “buy” link and start reading!
