The non profit literary journal SAND is currently accepting submissions of fiction, flash fiction, poetry, and more for their 25th issue.

Based in Berlin, Germany, the international journal is “dedicated to publishing risk-taking work from the diverse range of creatives making visual art, prose, poetry, and translations.” In line with this ideal, they are looking for work that “subverts, work that pushes against the boundaries of form, message, and voice in ways that we will feel, physically, in our bodies.”

The journal is open to both established and emerging authors. They however pay particular attention to underrepresented groups including women, nonbinary, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, working class, neurodiverse, international, and/or geographically underrepresented.

Accepted entries will be fairly compensated.

  • Submit up to 5 pages of poetry in the original language or in translation
  • Submit one piece of fiction (up to 5000 words) or up to three pieces of flash fiction (up to 1000 words each) in the original language or in translation
