Zimbabwean speculative fiction author T.L. Huchu recently signed a two-book deal with Tor UK, announcing that there will be a third and fourth book in his Edinburgh Nights series set in magical Scotland.

The third book The Mystery at Dunvegan Castle will be published in Summer 2023, while Book no. 4 in the series is yet to be named and will be out Summer 2024. A blend of Sixth Sense and Stranger Things, the Edinburgh Nights series explores the adventures of a teen girl who can talk to ghosts and solve paranormal mysteries in Edinburgh, visiting an occult library, a specialized hospital, and other secret spots.

The previous books in the Edinburgh Nights series include The Library of the Dead (2021) and Our Lady of Mysterious Ailments (2022). The series has received much acclaim thus far, with The Library of the Dead winning the 2022 Alex Award, 2022 Ilube Nommo Award for Best Novel, and making it to the USA Today Bestseller list.

The Mystery at Dunvegan Castle, the third book in Huchu’s series, features a creepy haunted castle that goes into lockdown, disturbing the worldwide Society of Skeptical Enquirers’ biennial conference. 15-year-old ghost-talker Ropa must figure out how to solve this locked castle mystery and figure out which of the magical attendees has stolen a valuable magical scroll.

Caught between Qozmos, the high wizard of Ethiopian magic, the larger-than-life Lord Sashvindu Samarasinghe, England’s Sorcerer Royal, and Scotland’s own Hamish Manas MacLeod, it’s up to Ropa (and Jomo and Priya) to sort through the dangerous secret politics and alliances to figure out what really happened. But she has a special tool―the many ghosts tied to the ancient, powerful castle.

Huchu’s paranormal mysteries get scarier with each book and we cannot wait to encounter the secrets and ghosts trapped within Dunvegan Castle! Huchu took to Twitter to announce the book deal recently:

T. L. Huchu is an award-winning Zimbabwean author living in Edinburgh. He previously published under the name Tendai Huchu and his books include The Hairdresser of Harare (2010) and The Maestro, The Magistrate and the Mathematician (2014).

Congrats to Huchu on the two-book deal! We are excited to see what’s next in the Edinburgh Nights series.
