The Royal African Society has just launched a virtual learning series titled Africa Unveiled where you can learn more about Africa’s histories, politics, and more. The online sessions will be held once every month and led by subject experts.

The Royal African Society was founded in 1901 in memory of Mary Kingsley, an English travel writer and ethnographer. Since its inception, the Society’s principle objective has been to foster a better understanding of Africa in the UK.

Every month, you will get a chance to connect with a community of learners and some of the most respected subject experts who will lead the curated virtual learning sessions. Topics include conflict resolution, Pan-Africanism, economic development, post-Apartheid South Africa, and much more.

Speakers will deliver a 30-40 minute presentation on a given topic, followed by a Q&A where audience members will be invited to ask the speaker any questions they may have.

The first session was held yesterday, and it delved into the historical and contemporary conflicts prevalent on the African continent, exploring common causes and discussing strategies for conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Titled Conflict Resolution in Africa: Lessons Learned, the session was led by the speaker Dr. Adeoye Akinola, Head of Research and Teaching at the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation (IPATC), University of Johannesburg in South Africa.

Follow the Royal African Society on Twitter to get updates about future courses in the series. Secure your virtual seat for £5 at each event. This is a great chance to either educate yourself or pass on the opportunity to friends and family!
