I’ve often felt that the world thrives in my misery,
that angels dance in my despair
and gods find rise in my sorrow.
I sometimes feel like heaven’s gates would be slammed at the sight of my face
to allow the earth to swallow me into darkness

But in the earth I will find comfort.
In its soil I will find peace.
The peace I have never known and the assurance of never changing

All my life I’ve understood that I’ll deserve to suffer,
for things I’ve done and things I’m still yet to do
And when the earth swallows me from my feet,
I’ll be in no surprise to an eternity of darkness.
Without breath, and without light. I’ll fully understand what I meant to this world
in a manner truer to the way I’ll know it while I’m living
