The cover for The Daughter Who Remains, the final installment in Nnedi Okorafor’s She Who Knows trilogy, has officially been revealed—giving fans their first visual glimpse into the climactic conclusion of a story years in the making. The novel is set to publish on February 17, 2026, from DAW Books.
Set in the same richly imagined universe as Okorafor’s World Fantasy Award–winning Who Fears Death, The Daughter Who Remains continues the story of Najeeba, now an older and fully trained sorcerer. With a mission as terrible as it is necessary, Najeeba embarks on a perilous journey accompanied by two companions—glass maker Dedan and an old camel named MorningStar—to confront a past that refuses to stay buried.
The first two books in the trilogy are She Who Knows and One Way Witch.
The newly unveiled cover, illustrated by acclaimed sci-fi artist Greg Ruth, features a striking image of a young Black woman surrounded by light and energy. She appears focused, powerful, and quietly commanding—a fitting representation of Najeeba at the height of her strength and purpose.
Described as a tale of family, courage, and healing, The Daughter Who Remains moves beyond the journey of learning power to the harder path of using it well, no matter the cost. Okorafor has also shared that the novel’s first chapter is written in nsibidi, an ancient system of graphic communication indigenous to the Ejagham peoples of southeastern Nigeria and southwestern Cameroon, continuing her commitment to weaving African traditions into futuristic storytelling.
Known for her groundbreaking work in Africanfuturism and Africanjujuism, Okorafor is an international award-winning, New York Times–bestselling Nigerian-American author.
