The Umuofia Arts and Books Festival will hold its fourth edition on 9, 10, and 11 July 2026 in Enugu, under the theme “The Architecture of Our Stories.” Named after the iconic fictional village in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, the festival has grown into the leading literary and arts gathering in Southeastern Nigeria, one of the first of its kind to emerge from a deliberate effort by young people to build a sustained intellectual and cultural life for the literary community in the region.

The festival team is currently in deep preparations. In the coming weeks, they will be sharing clips from previous editions and announcing the full guest lineup and programme. What they have already made clear is the spirit of the gathering: an open invitation to lovers of arts, knowledge, and culture to come together and ask, collectively, what the structures of our stories look like, how they are built, what they hold, and what they make possible.

We will update this post as the guest announcements roll in. For now, mark your calendars. July in Enugu.
