Holland House Books, a UK publisher, is compiling an anthology of short stories by new South African writers, to be published simultaneously in South Africa and the UK. The collection is titled Unheard Voices and is open to all South African writers who have not yet published a full-length book.

All genres are welcome. Stories should be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. The deadline is 14 June 2026.

The project is edited by three honours students at North West University working under Dr Karen Jennings, in collaboration with Robert Peett FRSA, editor at Holland House Books and Jennings’ own UK publisher.
