Akwaeke Emezi is, in more ways than one, the writer we all want to be. Her debut novel is still four months away from publication and the author is already doing book signing events and…wait for this…she is finishing the manuscript for her third book.

In the midst of all these craziness, she found time to hang out with her good friend and one of our favorite writers Uzodinma Iweala. She met up with him during their panel/book signing event at the Brooklyn Library and has the cutest photo ever to show for it. And she tagged the picture with this caption:

naija writer massive ✨🇳🇬 first time meeting (+ accidentally matching with) @uiweala at the @bklynlibrary after our dope panel + signing a bunch of galleys. me, i’m sha getting into this author life, i can’t lie 😂📚💞

And yes, they are wearing matching outfits, which, as Emezi points out in her Instagram post, was not planned at all.

Emezi’s debut novel Freshwater comes out in February 2018 while Iweala’s second novel Speak No Evil drops a month later in March 2018.

Congrats to these two hard-working writers for continuing to inspire us all with their hustle.
