The African Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, in partnership with Brittle Paper, are inviting reviews of Ghanaian author Yaa Gyasi’s second novel Transcendent Kingdom, the by Yaa Gyasi which is the 2021/2022 selection for the Go Big Read initiative.

Invitations are open to students of UW – Madison only. Accepted review will be published here on Brittle Paper.

Gyasi’s acclaimed novel, currently shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, centers a small Ghanaian family in Alabama, exploring themes of loss, inter-generational trauma and drug addiction. The book was selected for its topical focus on concepts of religion and science, race as well immigration.
