Ahead of the paperback release of his debut novel Open Water, author and breakout literary star Caleb Azumah Nelson, has released a short promotional trailer for the book.

Justin Marosa directs and produces, with British-Nigerian Martins Imhangbe and British-Ghanaian Adwoa Akoto featured as leads. In the trailer, a photographer and a dancer meet at a bar in Southeast London and begin a tender, at turns heartbreaking and redemptive love affair.

Some of you might recognize Imhangbe from Bridgerton, the regency period drama that swept the world off its feet last year. Imhangbe played Will Mondrich, a black boxer who form a tight friendship with the Duke of Hastings. Akoto’s was in Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You.

Open Water’s most recent honors include the Costa Award for Best First Book, and named finalist for The Sunday Times’ Charlotte Aitken Trust Young Writer of the Year.
