The 2022 Kaduna Book and Arts Festival (Kabafest) is live!

The festival is a brainchild of the Book Buzz Foundation, which also organizes the Ake festival, in collaboration with the Kaduna State Government and Sterling Bank. It is the largest art and literary event in Northern Nigeria, and annually converges art and literary lovers in Kaduna State to engage in a variety of activities including panel discussions, film screenings and art exhibitions, among others. The festival’s first edition, in 2017, was headlined by Sudanese author and inaugural Caine Prize winner Leila Aboulela and featured over over 50 writers, artists, actors, poets, and performers from around the world.

The 2022 edition will be held from September 14-17. The extensive guest line-up includes Umar Turaki, Uchenna Emelife, TJ Benson, Bisi Adjapon, Hauwa Selah, Leye Adenle, Richard Ali, Sada Malumfashi, Mona Eltahawy and Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, among others.

There will also be a special performance from the Nigerian artist Ladipoe at the night of poetry and music.

The festival is open to the public. However, attendees need to register in advance to attend the festival. Registration fee is only N1,000.
