We are loving this gorgeous look from Akwaeke Emezi’s photoshoot with COLORS X Studios. Shot in a field of yellow and pink flowers, Emezi is glowing as they embrace their Igbo heritage through their outfit and interview.

Emezi is an award-winning Nigerian author of Igbo-Tamil heritage. They have published the following works: Freshwater (2018), The Death of Vivek Oji (2020), You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty (2022), Bitter (2022), and poetry collection Content Warning: Everything (2022). Emezi won the Nommo Award twice in 2019 and 2021, and the Otherwise Award in 2019 for Freshwater.

Emezi spoke to Nigerian writer Arenike Adebajo for the COLORS interview about “Indigenous realities, the privilege of mobility, being exiled from their home country, and dealing with privilege through the redistribution of resources.” The photoshoot was shot by Texas Isaiah.

Emezi looks absolutely fabulous in a beige dress and jacket with orange eyeshadow to add a bright pop of color.  All pieces are from their personal collection. The top and jacket are by @pepperrow, the gloves by @marineserre_official, shoes by @camper, dress by @muus.brand, and hair by @babybangz_mama.
