The Association of Writers and Writing Programs recently wrapped up the 2025 conference and bookfair hosted in Los Angeles, California. AWP is the essential gathering for writers, teachers, students, editors, and publishers. Over four days, the conference saw thousands of attendees and hundreds of events and exhibitors.

Among the many attendees was Nigerian author Kasimma (All Shades of Iberibe, Sandorf Passage, 2021), who posted some really fun photos with fellow African writers Delight Ejiaka (“Market Craze,” Isele Magazine), Frances Ogamba (“The Grit Born” The Dark Magazine), and Saddiq Dzukogi (Your Crib, My Qibla, University of Nebraska Press, 2021)!

Kasimma shared the photos along with the sweet caption: “#awp2025 always gives me a chance to meet lovely writers. @delight_ejiaka @franceskaydee @saddiqdzukogi Awesome!” Check them out on her Instagram here!

We love seeing African writers meeting up and hanging out at literary events! It speaks to the strength of the African literary community and the beautiful friendships it allows for.
