Meet Dayo

People think running a bakery is easy. They imagine soft music playing in the background,
flour-dusted countertops, and the gentle hum of the oven as golden cakes rise to perfection. What they don’t imagine is chaos like:

Last-minute wedding cake orders. Clients who price my work like I’m selling tomatoes in
Mile 12. Delivery drivers who think potholes are part of a rally race. And of course, the
occasional cake thief.

Welcome to my world.

My name is Dayo, and I own Sweet Cravings Pastries, a cake and pastries business in
Lagos. I operate the business with the help of Cynthia, my friend and pastry expert,
Morayo, our shop assistant and social media manager, and Mohammed, our dependable
delivery driver. Baking isn’t just my job, it’s my life. I left a career in IT five years ago to
follow my passion, thinking it would be smooth sailing.

Instead, I walked straight into the madness that is Lagos events.

I’ve baked cakes for brides who almost didn’t get married. I’ve chased delivery vans down
Third Mainland Bridge. And once, I even had to convince a five-year-old that eating her cake
wouldn’t hurt the princesses inside.

Every order has a story. Some are hilarious. Some are frustrating. And some remind me
why I love what I do.

These are the stories from my bakery. The sugar-coated chaos. The buttercream betrayals.
The fondant-fuelled madness that comes with being a Lagos baker.

So, if you ever think cake is just cake, sit back, grab a slice, and let me prove you wrong.
